Assistant/Associate Professor of Management/Quantitative Methods

The E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Management at the Assistant/Associate Professor level beginning Fall 2010. Approximately 2300 undergraduate students and 75 MBA students are currently enrolled in the College of Business Administration at Coastal Carolina University.

The undergraduate graduate programs are AACSB-International accredited. There are currently 40 full-time faculty members in six academic disciplines: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, Marketing, and Resort Tourism. The College also offers an MBA program. Regional outreach is accomplished primarily through activities of the College's Coastal Federal Center for Economic and Community Development. The individual hired for this position will have responsibilities in teaching, research, and service. The individual will primarily teach undergraduate courses in business statistics and quantitative analysis (including topics such as decision analysis, forecasting, linear programming, simulation, and queuing theory). Opportunities to teach in the MBA program and/or other areas of management such as project management, quality management, production and service operations, or topics concerning international issues may be available. Currently, the teaching load is six sections per academic year. Research in an area of applied quantitative methods, research using quantitative methods, or other areas resulting in the publication of peer reviewed journal articles, national proceedings, and paper presentations is required. A minimum of two peered reviewed articles in a five-year period is required. The individual will be responsible for advising undergraduate students and working with student organizations, and is expected to engage in service activities with colleagues, the department, school, campus, community, and professional organizations.

Ideal applicants should have an earned Ph.D. degree from an AACSB accredited program in quantitative methods or a degree in an area that integrates quantitative methods into its research and teaching methodology (such as operations management). A.B.D s with a clear plan for completion by December 31, 2010 are also encouraged to apply. A candidate with a completed Ph.D. must have a consistent record of publication in refereed journals. Applicants must have abilities, skills, and enthusiasm consistent with teaching excellence and instructional innovation. They must be interested in using technology in instruction and must demonstrate evidence of communication skills appropriate to a faculty position.
