The primary purpose of the Residence Coordinator is to serve as the sole manager of one of eight residential areas on a campus consisting of seven residence halls, eleven suite style buildings, and twenty six apartment buildings housing a total of 4143 students.
As a live-in staff member, the Residence Coordinator supervises a residential area with a staff of 8 to 13 resident assistants, one graduate level assistant residence coordinator, and 20-30 desk receptionists. The Residence Coordinator serves, on a rotating basis, as the crisis management contact for all residential students. The Residence Coordinator enforces university policy and procedures by serving as a conduct officer with the authority to recommend student suspension. The Residence Coordinator also serves as a counselor and advisor to the 400-660 residents who reside in their residential area of campus. The Residence Coordinator also serves as a primary educator for academic success and life skills through consistent interaction with residential students. The Residence Coordinator manages budgets ranging from $8000 - $35,000 and must possess an understanding of departmental budgeting processes. Lastly, the Residence Coordinator relies heavily on administrative skills to manage facilities operations, committee tasks, human resources processes and staff training systems.
