Purdue University is seeking a visionary leader as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at one of the nation s premier institutions of higher learning. The ideal candidate will oversee and enhance Purdue University s commitment to the value of a liberal arts education.

Purdue University is Indiana s comprehensive public land-grant institution with an enrollment of over 39,000 students on the West Lafayette campus. Reporting to the Provost, the Dean of Liberal Arts is responsible for the overall academic, administrative, and fiscal leadership of the College. The College of Liberal Arts (CLA) is one of the largest colleges at Purdue, with over 250 tenured or tenure-track faculty, over 4,600 undergraduate students, and approximately 860 graduate students. The newly-reorganized College of Liberal Arts comprises eight departments and one school: Anthropology, Communication, English, Foreign Languages and Literatures, History, Philosophy, Political Science, and Sociology; as well as the School of Visual and Performing Arts. The college is home to interdisciplinary graduate programs such as American Studies, Comparative Literature, and Linguistics, and interdisciplinary undergraduate programs including, African American Studies, Jewish Studies, and Women s Studies.

The successful candidate will be an experienced administrator with an outstanding record as a scholar and teacher and qualified for appointment to the rank of full professor. This candidate will have demonstrated a commitment to traditional areas of learning as well as new directions in the liberal arts; have demonstrated management skills, high ethical and professional standards, and an ability to work effectively with alumni and prospective donors in raising funds for the College. A candidate should also have a commitment to diversity and inclusiveness, and be able to effectively represent the liberal arts to Purdue and the community.
