Scholar-in-Residence Positions

The Institute for Liberal Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies invites applications for two Scholar-in-Residence positions:

Scholar-in-Residence: Race, Ethnicity and Culture
Scholar-in-Residence: Gender and Sexuality

Both positions are one-year, non-tenure track appointment (renewable for up to five years) depending on the needs of the department. The initial appointments are for the 2010-11 academic year beginning September 1, 2010.

Scholar-in-Residence: Gender and Sexuality
A Ph.D. in Sociology, Anthropology, History, Political Science or relevant interdisciplinary fields is required, as is strong commitment to interdisciplinary approaches to the liberal arts. The Institute is seeking a scholar whose research focuses on one or more of the following: global perspectives on feminist and queer theory, cultural constructions of identity, civic engagement, and the politics of representation in the arts or popular culture. Responsibilities include teaching three courses per semester and serving on the Institute Advisory Committee to advise the Dean of Liberal Arts on academic issues.

Scholar-in-Residence: Race, Ethnicity and Culture

Interdisciplinary and/or comparative international approaches are especially welcome, as are those that promote intersectional analyses incorporating other modalities of identity (religion, gender, sexuality, nationality). The Institute is seeking a scholar whose research focuses on questions of cultural constructions of identity, democracy and social justice, and/or media and popular culture. Responsibilities include teaching three courses per semester and serving on the Institute Advisory Committee to advise the Dean of Liberal Arts on academic issues.
