Senior Director of Teacher & Counselor Education

General Summary:
The Senior Director of Teacher and Counselor Education will provide leadership and support on teacher and counselor education and other School of Education (SOE)-wide programs. This position will manage long-term academic planning, collect and analyze data on program effectiveness, supervise multi-campus activities designed to improve teacher and counselor education in Chicago, collaborate with the Illinois State Board Education Department of Education, and develop innovative programs.

The School of Education welcomes applications for its exciting new professional opportunity for a Senior Director of Teacher Education Initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical assistance for the School of Education (SOE).
Prepare for NCATE reporting and site visits.
Liaise with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with certification and licensure requirements.
Provide coordination of campus teacher and counselor education programs.
Work collaboratively with faculty in creating, organizing, and maintaining clinical site placements for practica, internships, and field experiences.
Work with institutional research staff in designing and conducting studies to assess teacher and counselor education programs and initiatives.
Consult with partner organizations to identify high-need areas for teacher and counselor hiring.
Develop strategies to recruit teachers and counselors for shortage fields.
Assist with grant proposals to support program initiatives and other projects as assigned.
Make academic and executive level decisions around accreditation.
Supervise faculty who supervise student teaching supervisors and 3 clinical and field experience staff.
Manage budget to support the function.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
An advanced degree in a social science or in education, Ed.D or Ph.D.
Five (5) years of related work experience.
Graduate training in statistical analysis and experience in study design, data collection and analysis.
Knowledge of current practices in teacher and counselor preparation.

Preferred Requirements:
Experience in higher education.
