Assistant Professor of English
Valdosta State University s English Department is seeking an Assistant Professor of English with a specialization in African American literature to join a thriving program in African American Studies. A sub-specialty in African literature is also desirable but not required. Tenure-track position begins in fall 2010. In addition to teaching courses in the specialty, responsibilities would include freshman composition, other interdisciplinary courses, world literature surveys, and American literature survey courses. Teaching experience in these courses is helpful but not required. Departmental duties also include committee work, advising, professional development activities, and research leading to publication. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand by the position s starting date, August 1, 2010.
