Assistant Professor of Art Education


Queens College s Department of Secondary Education & Youth Services is seeking an assistant professor of Art Education. The department offers initial and professional certification programs in preK 12 education. Duties include teaching, research, and guidance duties, with shared responsibility for committee and department assignments, performing administrative, supervisory, and other functions as may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: PhD.degree in area(s) of expertise, or equivalent as noted below. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with an in-depth knowledge in three or more of the following areas: teaching grades K 12 art in multicultural, urban, and culturally diverse schools; college teaching in K 12 art education; implementation or administration of standards-based pre-service teacher education programs; grant writing; funding in art education in urban settings; hands-on experience with art-based multimedia technologies; and/or commitment to student-centered instruction.

Compensation: $42,873 $74,133, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
