Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy
The Department of Occupational Therapy invites applications for a new 9-month faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, beginning Fall 2010. The primary responsibility of this position is to teach graduate and undergraduate students in the Occupational Therapy program. Additional responsibilities include scholarship and service to the School and College. Qualified applicants will have a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience and a master’s degree, initial certification as an occupational therapist, and eligibility for licensure as an occupational therapist in Massachusetts.
Successful candidates are expected to establish and sustain independent scholarship. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required, as are demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to lifelong learning. Teaching experience in higher education, ability to collaborate and work in a team environment, technology skills to support teaching and scholarship, post-professional education, and a doctoral degree are preferred. The Occupational Therapy Department offers a five-year combined baccalaureate and master’s program, an entry-level master’s degree program, and post-professional graduate degrees. The OT program has been accredited by ACOTE since 1991, has ten full- and part-time faculty, and enjoys exceptional teaching and laboratory facilities. The mission of the Occupational Therapy Department is to prepare professionals for leadership in the use of human occupation to promote people’s participation in meaningful life roles and activities.
