ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, CAPITAL GIVING

Swarthmore College seeks a qualified individual to be responsible for the identification, engagement and solicitation of Swarthmore alumni, parents and friends having the capacity to make philanthropic commitments of $100,000 or larger to the college. The Associate Director will manage the College s relationships with a portfolio of approximately 200 capital gifts prospects and will travel regularly in order to discharge these responsibilities. S/he will be responsible for building professional relationships within the division of Development and Alumni Relations, across campus, in the community and in professional networks as appropriate. S/he will also be responsible for initiating regional strategies that support identification and engagement of donor prospects and volunteers.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 3+ years of fundraising or related experience, preferably in higher education. Experience working in a comprehensive campaign is desirable. Comparable related experience in allied fields will be considered.
 Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities. Skill in dealing with people, diplomacy, tact, discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality inside and outside Development and Alumni Relations are essential.
 Superior written and oral communication skills, creativity, and demonstrated success in managing multiple projects.
 Bachelor s degree, preferably in the liberal arts, required. Advanced degree desirable.
 Familiarity with alumni databases and the willingness to use, or learn to use, them in support of travel and fundraising efforts.
 A sense of humor and a deep appreciation for private liberal arts education are a must.
