ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, CAPITAL GIVING
Swarthmore College seeks a qualified individual to be responsible for the identification, engagement and solicitation of Swarthmore alumni, parents and friends having the capacity to make philanthropic commitments of $100,000 or larger to the college. The Associate Director will manage the College s relationships with a portfolio of approximately 200 capital gifts prospects and will travel regularly in order to discharge these responsibilities. S/he will be responsible for building professional relationships within the division of Development and Alumni Relations, across campus, in the community and in professional networks as appropriate. S/he will also be responsible for initiating regional strategies that support identification and engagement of donor prospects and volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
3+ years of fundraising or related experience, preferably in higher education. Experience working in a comprehensive campaign is desirable. Comparable related experience in allied fields will be considered.
Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities. Skill in dealing with people, diplomacy, tact, discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality inside and outside Development and Alumni Relations are essential.
Superior written and oral communication skills, creativity, and demonstrated success in managing multiple projects.
Bachelor s degree, preferably in the liberal arts, required. Advanced degree desirable.
Familiarity with alumni databases and the willingness to use, or learn to use, them in support of travel and fundraising efforts.
A sense of humor and a deep appreciation for private liberal arts education are a must.
