The Department of Theatre at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for an appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor of Theatre. This position will continue to refine and develop CCU s regionally prominent, dynamic and growing program in Musical Theatre, and will provide the next level of leadership as the department welcomes the first B.F.A. class in Musical Theatre in Fall 2010. The faculty member will oversee musical direction/accompaniment for 2-3 musicals per year as well as teach 1-2 beginning and advanced courses. Courses will include Musical Theatre History, Music Skills for Actors, Musical Theatre Scene Study and a potential of required courses in the university core curriculum.
Required qualifications: M.F.A., earned doctorate, or other appropriate equivalent professional experience as a musical director/coach. Strong keyboard and sight reading skills and ability to provide musical direction for a variety of musical theatre styles. Demonstrated experience as an instructor at the university level is required. Additional qualifications: ability to coach Musical Theatre students, direct musical ensembles in the context of musical productions, and teach music skills for actors.
