The University of Central Florida College of Medicine in Orlando is seeking applications for an Associate Dean for Student Affairs. The Associate Dean provides oversight and supervision of admissions, financial services, registration and student support service functions of the College of Medicine and serves as a role model for medical students. The Associate Dean ensures that all appropriate criteria are met for accreditation and in the management and progression of medical students from matriculation through graduation.
In 2009, the College of Medicine welcomed its inaugural class of medical students. These students are trailblazers working with our faculty and staff to create a model medical school for the 21st century. The College of Medicine aspires to become an extraordinary research-based institution training physicians of the future who will become exemplary physicians, leaders in medicine, scholars in science, innovators in medical technology and compassionate providers of health care. Preliminary accreditation has been granted and UCF s College of Medicine admitted its first class of 41 students in August of 2009. As part of the Medical City at Lake Nona which is currently under construction, just east of the Orlando International Airport, the College of Medicine takes residence on the UCF Health Sciences Campus among the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute, Nemours Children s Hospital, M.D. Anderson Cancer Research Institute and the VA Medical Center Orlando.
Candidates must have a terminal degree from an accredited institution, and experience working in student affairs within a college/school of medicine. Candidates must have in-depth first-hand knowledge of all aspects of the medical education process from first year through residency. Candidates must have experience counseling medical students in academic and personal matters and knowledge of policies governing admission, advancement, graduation, conduct, discipline, and student appeals.
