FALL 2010 TENURE TRACK FACULTY OPENINGS LINCOLN LAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE (LLCC)
Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) serves a 4000 square mile district at its main campus in Springfield, the vibrant capital city of Illinois. Springfield is centrally located between Chicago and St. Louis and is home to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum as well as numerous historic sites and cultural events. LLCC enrollment for 2008-2009 was approximately 16,000 full- and part-time credit and non-credit students. LLCC is seeking innovative instructors who place student success and student learning as top priorities. The college is particularly interested in applicants who demonstrate an interest in active learning approaches, student assessment techniques, and utilizing technology in the classroom. Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience in instructional applications of computers and other educational technology or be interested in learning these. Interest in teaching online courses is also encouraged. The college is also interested in individuals with a commitment to departmental, institutional, and community service. Duties will include teaching 15 contact hours per semester. Some opportunities exist for overload and summer teaching assignments. Teaching experience, especially at a community college, is viewed favorably.
EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION: A masters degree in Early Childhood Education is required. The candidate should be able to teach courses focusing on Growth and Development, Language and Literacy, Early Childhood Learning Environments and Students with Disabilities in Schools. Interest in teaching online courses is also encouraged.
MATH: A masters degree in mathematics or a masters degree in a closely related field with at least 18 graduate hours in mathematics is required. The candidate should be able to teach courses ranging from developmental mathematics through differential equations. Candidates meeting the requirements outlined above, who also possess 18 graduate hours in geography or chemistry, may receive extra consideration in the selection process.
Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience $39,412 $66,434 with an excellent benefits package. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen.
