The Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs reports directly to the President and is charged with the formulation, direction and oversight of all academic units including the colleges, the library and professional education. As chief academic officer, the Provost oversees academic policy and priorities, establishes standards for the quality of the student body and maintains educational excellence. In addition, the Provost has responsibility for the recruiting, hiring, retention and performance of top quality faculty and academic administrators who excel in both research and education, and for administration of the Institutes promotion and tenure process.
The Office of the Provost is structured so that the following positions report directly:
- Deans of the Colleges of Architecture, Computing, Engineering, Ivan Allen (Liberal Arts), Management, Sciences and the Dean and Director of Libraries who directly and through school chairs and directors, plan and direct the functions of their respective disciplines.
- Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs who is responsible for enrollment services, international initiatives, faculty development and graduate/undergraduate studies.
- Vice Provost for Distance Learning and Professional Education
who is responsible for the Institutes distance learning and professional education programs and the Language Institute.
- Vice Provosts of Georgia Tech
who are responsible for the Institutes satellite campuses.
Qualifications include a terminal degree in a discipline represented within the Institute and credentials warranting tenure in one of Georgia Techs Colleges.
