SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER/ANALYST-ADVANCED

Job Description: ECU is Recruiting a Windows Server Administrator to join our Enterprise Systems Team. The position functions in a high technical capacity that provides day-to-day administration and support of Enterprise Systems servers. The selected candidate should have an in-depth technical understanding for enterprise-level Windows server maintenance in a large client/server environment. This includes, but is not limited to, stand-alone rack-mount servers, boot-to-SAN blade servers, and virtual environment host/guest servers. The employee in this position should be a highly proficient technical resource for other team members in the core areas of responsibility providing aid with problems through analysis and problem resolution. This includes managing projects that have a high impact and complexity utilizing state of the art technologies.

Problems with operational functions of systems and team supported software are analyzed to determine when situations require modifications or enhancements to be designed, tested, and implemented. Overall system operations are reviewed for performance failures, slowdowns, and space scarcities to ascertain if corrective actions are needed. This may involve tuning of existing functions within the system or deciding new products or changes from vendors to alleviate issues. The position will also need to bring a strong security focus using the necessary tools with emphasis on best practices and a preventative mindset to their supported systems. A broader knowledge of Information Technology at large, maintaining a deep understanding of the field and its related technologies, and a firm understanding of related disciplines and the functions within the team. This position provides 24x7x365 on-call technical support as well as non-business hour duties including evening and weekends. The team also provides technical consultation and assistance to departmental OS administrators.

Work includes developing long-range projections based on determinations of hardware capacity and software deployments to meet the needs of clients, examining potential products with advances or pioneering changes that may benefit faculty, staff and students. The selected candidate will display the ability to quickly evaluate system weaknesses and take corrective measures in a mission critical server environment with a capacity to work under pressure.


Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or closely related degree from an appropriately accredited institution; and two years of experience in operations analysis and design systems programming or closely related area; or Associate's degree in Computer Information Technology, Computer Engineering Technology or Networking Technology from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in operations analysis and design, systems programming or closely related area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced level requires an additional one year of education or experience.


Special Instructions to Applicants: This position is subject to the Career Banding Salary Administration Plan. If candidates are not identified at the Advanced level, management may consider candidates at a lower competency level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations.

Salary Grade Equivalent: 79 (for reduction-in-force priority purposes only)
