Instructor/Assistant Professor Mass Communication-Frostburg State University, Department of Mass Communication seeks applicants for a full-time tenure track Instructor/Assistant Professor position, beginning August 2010. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications and includes USM benefits package.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach four courses per semester. Primary teaching assignments may include mass communication core course from the following: introduction to mass communication, writing for the electronic media, mass communication research methods, mass communication theory, telecommunication law, media aesthetics and criticism, and current issues and new technology in mass communication. The successful candidate should also be able to contribute to one or more of the following areas: audio/music production, announcing and performance, media programming, media management/sales, and/or broadcast journalism. Responsibilities will also include student advising, university and community service and relevant professional development warranting tenure consideration.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: ABD with documentation of significant progress toward completion of degree will be considered for appointment at the Instructor rank. Successful candidate must also have potential for teaching excellence. New doctoral candidates are encouraged to apply.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in mass communication or closely related area.
The Department has over 160 majors and is scheduled to move to a state-of-the-art facility in 2013. Continued growth and program expansion are expected.
