Position Description:

The Web User Interaction Developer II is responsible for helping shape the user experience on the WCC website. This will encompass public facing information pages, as well as student and staff web tools. The Web User Interaction Developer II will work directly with the manager of Web Services as well as the Web Designer II and Web Programmer II to help decide which features and functionalities are built and to make sure that the functionality is kept on track. The Web User Interaction Developer II will take ultimate responsibility for making sure that the WCC website is intuitive and enjoyable to navigate while following industry best practices for User Interface design.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Make UI recommendations for college web pages in accordance with industry best practices.
- Research and suggest technology to accomplish the college's web goals.
- Develop (and program) complex interactive web forms.
- Develop (and program) complex interactive web pages to display database-driven content.
- Troubleshoot existing interface problems and suggest solutions and enhancements.
- Document scripts, forms and procedures and train staff on how to use and maintain them.
- Develop in a collaborative and iterative manner with other Web Services staff as well as other ITS staff.
- Interact with key stakeholders throughout the college.
- Adheres to established department programming practices and guidelines

Related Duties:
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Web Services.  

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent of four (4) years of full time programming and/or user experience development in a production environment.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience developing cross-browser/cross-platform compatible web interfaces with complex interactive components (URLs to sample work required.)
- Attention to detail and an analytical approach when it comes to UI development. You must always consider WCC's diverse audience, focusing on ease of use, intuitive functionality, and user-centric design.
- Expertise in User Interaction/User Experience desi-n that focuses on public-facing web applications.
- Mastery of Javascript ? JQuery preferred. (Samples of code required.)
- Mastery of XHTML and CSS. (Samples of code required.)
- Experience with PHP and MySQL.
- Working knowledge of Photoshop.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment where end-user education is needed and flexibility is essential.
- Strong interface design background; keen grasp of navigation & usability issues.
- Excellent time management and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Flash and Adobe Air experience.  

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with code source control software (such as SVN).
- Experience with WYSIWYG web design software.
- Knowledge of integrating multimedia (audio, video, etc.) on the web.
- Experience with UNIX web servers.
