Job Description: The Chief of Communication for Health Sciences will be responsible for strategic communication and marketing for the Division of Health Sciences. As a part of this responsibility, the candidate must possess skills in project management, developing marketing campaigns, leading committees, and advising on communication and marketing strategy within the division and across the university.
The successful candidate will develop a communication network and implement a set of communication and marketing strategies designed to inform internal and external constituencies about the accomplishments of the faculty, staff and students in key areas (awards, honors, grants, publications, etc.) as defined by East Carolina strategic objectives.
This individual must be able to develop strategic communication plans, set goals and accomplish them as part of an organizational development plan and have demonstrated writing and editing skills in preparing proposals, news releases, web copy and related correspondence.
The Chief of Communication for Health Sciences will work closely with deans, chairpersons, and directors from across the division as well as the ECU Medical & Health Sciences Foundation and colleagues throughout University Communication, especially the director of marketing strategy.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in an applicable discipline and 8 years of experience in an area of expertise acceptable. This position requires a professional media background, preferably with experience both in media and public relations.
Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions and conferred by the time of hire.
