Salary Range of Position: $100,000-$110,000, commensurate with experience
Educational Requirements: Relevant degree and professional experience in communication, business, management or higher education. Masters degree or equivalent academic experience required.

Position Requirements:
Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible management work in communication or an academic setting with an emphasis on administration. Demonstrated experience in managing multi-million budgets and strong knowledge of budgeting principles. Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to establish and implement strategic priorities in a dynamic and high pressure environment. Familiarity with a university environment, including an understanding of the organizational and governance structure of major colleges and universities and nonprofit organizations.

Description:
The Associate Dean for Administration and Planning provides strategic direction for and ensures quality in the administration of the School of Communication. With minimal supervision, the Associate Dean for Administration has senior management and oversight responsibility for budget, technology, facilities planning, including supervision of facilities planning for a new SOC building, web and communications and strategic planning with relation to budget. The position will chair the SOC faculty-staff Building Committee, which works with the Dean and University architects on plans for a new home for the School of Communication.

As a member of the executive team, the Associate Dean for Administration and Planning reports directly to the Dean of the School of Communication and has broad authority to develop and administer all policies and procedures related to administration, budget, and facilities. The Associate Dean manages the budget office, which includes the Assistant Dean for Budget & Facilities Administration; and Technology Services, which includes the Director of Technology Services. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the Associate Dean for Administration also will work closely with the Assistant Dean for Student and Academic Affairs and the Director of Graduate Services in developing graduate and undergraduate enrollment targets and strategies. This position will work closely with SOCs Director of Projects on grants and human resources management on behalf of the Dean and the School. This position will meet routinely with the SOC dean's suite to discuss operational and related budgetary issues, to come up with solutions to issues arising around current and future financial strategies, revenue vehicles (such as certificates, institutional revenue centers, and grants) and human resources related to staff and faculty and to formulate recommendations to the dean on strategic issues and policies.
