Educational Requirements: Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology.

Position Requirements:
DC licensed or license-eligible; 3+ years post-license experience; and significant training and supervision experience. Relevant background: clinical/counseling experience in a university mental health setting with diverse student populations including minority, international, and disabled students; experience in assessing and responding to mental health emergency situations. Preference will be given to candidates with administrative experience and knowledge of accreditation of graduate clinical training programs.




Description:
American University's Counseling Center is seeking an Assistant Director for Training to provide assessment, time limited individual and group counseling/psychotherapy, crisis intervention, workshops, and referrals to American University students. This position will be responsible to provide training and supervision for graduate-level psychology and social work clinical trainees (APA-accredited internship); and participate in a rotation of after-hours emergency coverage. In addition, the position has primary responsibility for overseeing the Centers psychodynamically oriented training program, which includes an APA-Accredited internship program, externship program, and practicum level training programs.

This is a full-time (35 hrs/wk) 12-month professional position. Salary is competitive and benefits are excellent.
