John F. Kennedy University (JFKU) is a private non-profit institution founded in 1964 and located in Pleasant Hill, CA (26 miles east of San Francisco). For over 40 years, JFKU has provided personalized, professionally oriented education to working adults. The University is part of the National University System. Current enrollment is approximately 1,600 (300 undergraduate/1,300 graduate). There are 57 core faculty and an impressive contingent of adjunct faculty. The University has an annual budget of approximately $21 million. The College of Law consists of six core faculty and adjunct faculty who come with outstanding records as lawyers, educators and judges. Annual budget for the College is between $2.5 and $3.0 million. The student body of 160 represents one of the most diverse student bodies in any law school in California. The College also operates three clinics and two libraries. The College fills an important niche in legal education in the region. The dean will have the opportunity to continue to build and strengthen the College and move them to the next level. Candidates should have a JD degree and background in academic administration is preferred. Experience should include leadership and management within an organization of similar size and complexity; strategic planning, resource development, success in mentoring and developing others; community relations, a demonstrated understanding of the unique mission of serving adult learners and a commitment to diversity.
