Visiting Faculty in Spanish (Two Openings)
The Modern Languages department at Whitworth University, Spokane, Washington, invites applications for two non-tenure track faculty openings at the rank of Visiting Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor. The positions are full-time and have a three year appointment. Start Date: July 1, 2010

The Modern Languages Department provides students with a well rounded understanding of another culture and the language skills to communicate effectively within that culture. Our majors study abroad for one semester or a full year through many exchange programs including ISEP.
Primary Responsibilities: Teach six to seven courses per year to majors and non-majors including first and second year Spanish language courses, grammar and conversation, as well as upper division topics courses for majors on Latin American cultures and literatures. Participate in departmental activities such as the coordination of the First Year Spanish program and/or Live Lab program, and advising of Spanish majors.
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
1. Masters degree in Spanish; masters degree in applicable fields such as Latin American Studies also considered. Ph.D. desirable
2. Demonstrated proficiency in Spanish required
3. Demonstrated excellence in teaching
4. Familiarity with technology in teaching
5. A personal commitment to the Christian faith and to the integration of faith and learning
6. The ability and desire to establish positive working relationships regardless of race, gender, physical limitation or religious belief
