The Department of Mathematics at the College of Staten Island invites applications for a faculty Lectureship position beginning in September 2010. A lecturer has an annual 27-hour teaching commitment with the opportunity for a certificate of continuous employment.
The College of Staten Island is a 204-acre landscaped campus, the largest in New York City. It is fully accessible from the other boroughs of the City and New Jersey by car and public transportation. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: The selected candidate shall have a demonstrated enthusiasm and success with teaching and curriculum development. The Department of Mathematics is particularly interested in candidates who can provide expertise with innovative teaching strategies and teaching technologies in our developmental math program and our 100-level selection of courses. A Master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or a related field is preferred. Further graduate study is considered a plus. Although the lecturer line position has no requirement of research publication, in the interest of long-term success within a research-active department, it is expected that the successful candidate will demonstrate interest in mathematics outside of teaching responsibilities.
COMPENSATION : $40,435 - $66,431, commensurate with experience.
