Job Description: The Department of Physics at East Carolina University invites applications or nominations for a tenure track Assistant Professor position beginning August 15, 2011. We seek a candidate to establish a vigorous and independent research program in accelerator-based atomic or radiation physics with biological applications to contribute to the Department's Biomedical Physics PhD program. A PhD in Physics or an equivalent degree from an appropriately accredited institution is required and postdoctoral research experience is preferred. Candidates with established independent research programs may be considered for appointment at a higher academic rank. The Department has an active atomic collisions physics program (see www.ecu.edu/physics for a description of faculty research and facilities) built around a 2-MeV tandem Van de Graaff accelerator and is currently in the process of acquiring a new heavy-ion accelerator. The successful applicant is also expected to teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels and participate in professional service, as well as service to the university and community.


Minimum Qualifications: A PhD in Physics or an equivalent degree from an appropriately accredited institution is required.
