Pace University invites inquiries, nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the School of Education. Pace University, founded in 1906, is a private, co-educational, and comprehensive multi-campus university in the New York metropolitan area with campuses in New York City and Westchester County.
The Dean is the chief academic officer of the School of Education (SOE) and reports to Geoffrey L. Brackett, Provost. Under the leadership of President Stephen Friedman and Provost Brackett, Pace University is experiencing a period of positive change as new leadership is being appointed to a number of the university s schools and colleges. Within this context, the School of Education has abundant opportunities for growth and even greater success. With over 50 full- and part-time faculty and over 1,200 undergraduate and graduate students, the School is poised to grow and to develop new programs for the preparation of teachers and educational leaders. The SOE has completed a vigorous strategic plan that has identified a number of goals to achieve its mission of preparing educators to be reflective practitioners, who promote social justice, create caring classroom and school communities, and enable all students to be successful leaders. The SOE s strategic plan has among its goals the creation of new programs and improvement in current ones that will enable graduates to utilize data to improve outcomes for students and be recognized for their ability to work collaboratively and to generate new knowledge. The SOE is seeking a new Dean who shares the faculty s vision and who can lead the ongoing implementation and revision of that plan.
Dedicated faculty, with a collective sense of enthusiasm for the future, provides the new Dean with a strong group of collaborators for successfully achieving these goals. The diversity of the region and the School s New York metropolitan location provide the school with opportunities to participate in cutting edge educational reform efforts. The candidate should have relevant leadership, management, and research experience and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity in his/her institution.
Interested individuals should provide a letter describing their interest in and qualifications for the position, curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information of five references to the Witt/Kieffer search consultants supporting the search, Oliver Tomlin and Jane Courson, at PaceEdDean@wittkieffer.com.
