Asst/Assoc Professor of Communication Arts

The Department of Communication Arts at George Fox University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position to begin August 2010.

The department seeks applicants who take a broad approach to the study of communication within a liberal arts context. We especially seek candidates who approach communication from a generalist perspective, yet have expertise in one or more of the following areas: organizational communication, rhetorical studies, journalism, or media studies. The teaching load includes the basic public speaking course. Willingness to coach forensics is a plus. In addition, candidates will be expected to engage in appropriate professional and scholarly activities, assist other department members in shaping the communication curriculum, advise majors, serve on faculty committees as requested, and carry out other faculty responsibilities.

Qualifications include a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree with priority given to candidates with a minimum of two years teaching experience at the college level.

George Fox University, a Christ-centered community, prepares students spiritually, academically, and professionally to think with clarity, act with integrity, and serve with passion. Professors teach all truth as God's truth, integrating all fields of learning around the person and work of Jesus Christ, bringing the divine revelations through sense, reason, and intuition to the confirming test of Scripture. All applicants must express a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a local church. In addition, professors agree to live in agreement with the university lifestyle statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith. Individuals who would fit this profile are encouraged to apply for any current openings in our faculty.

Candidates should submit a letter of interest and vitae to: Dr. Hank Helsabeck, Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, 414 N. Meridian St., Newberg, OR 97132 or to lscott@georgefox.edu. Recommendations and other supporting materials may be requested at a later stage of the review process. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
