Assistant or Associate Professor in Instructional Science and Technology
The School of Information Technology and Communication Design (ITCD) seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track assistant or associate professor position in Instructional Science and Technology with an emphasis in Digital Media. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the design, development and delivery of undergraduate and graduate curricula including Instructional Technology, Visual Design, Digital Games and Media Design, and Web Design in both face-to-face and online environments. He/she will also teach, advise and mentor students, and conduct research in his/her field that provides research opportunities for students.
The School of Information Technology and Communication Design is one of the academic units within the College of Science, Media Art and Technology. The School's mission is to provide an academically excellent and diverse learning environment that connects students, faculty, and local and global communities to the integrated disciplines of
Information Technology and Communication Design, including Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Networks, Digital Media Design, Management, and Instructional Technology. In addition to the Interdisciplinary Master's Program in
Instructional Science and Technology (IST), the School offers two bachelor's degree programs. They are Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and Communication Design and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Technology. Responsibilities:
- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses, as needed, in two or more of the following areas: instructional design, interactive multimedia, assessment and evaluation, and capstone. May also teach Web scripting and media design courses.
- Conduct research related to instructional technology
- Participate in related activities such as advising students, participating in student recruitment and orientation, creating curriculum, assisting and mentoring part-time faculty, applying for major grants, serving on school and university committees, and community service.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
• An earned doctorate in Instructional Technology, Instructional Systems Technology, Educational Media, or a closely related field (candidates at the completion stage in a doctoral program with the ability to complete all degree requirements prior to appointment date can be considered.)
• Experience in instructional design or multimedia production
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
Desirable Qualifications:
• Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: multimedia and hypermedia development, game design, video and audio production.
• Experience in teaching hands-on project based courses in instructional design and development
• Experience teaching online courses
• Ability to teach writing oriented courses in the discipline
• Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary, multi-cultural environment
• Ability to advise on community-based projects
• Experience in writing grant proposals
• Experience mentoring research projects and/or internships
• Experience in curriculum development and advising
Appointment Date: August 17, 2010 (Fall Semester 2010)
Salary: Commensurate with background and experience.
