Job Description: Director, NC Teaching Fellows and Maynard Scholarship Program. Twelve-month, full-time non-teaching faculty position at East Carolina University available July 1, 2010. The North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program is an enhanced teacher education program that offers highly competitive scholarship-loans designed to attract high achieving high school seniors into a career of teaching. The Maynard Scholarship Program is modeled after the N.C. Teaching Fellows Scholarship and is administered by the same office. The Director of the Teaching Fellows and Maynard Scholarship Program at East Carolina University provides leadership for one of the largest and most innovative of the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Programs with an enrollment of approximately 200 Teaching Fellows and Maynard Scholars annually. The duties and responsibilities of the Director include recruitment; program development and evaluation; student support and services including monitoring academic progress, design a series of professional development seminars, travel opportunities, and summer activities; campus-wide faculty engagement; grant and budget development; and other related areas. Successful applicants will demonstrate excellence in oral and written communication and the ability to apply those skills across a wide range of audiences including prospective students and their families, university faculty and staff, agencies and offices both internal (Admissions, Housing, Financial Aid, etc.) and external (Teaching Fellows Commission, Public School Forum, etc.), public school teachers and administrators, and various governing and accrediting boards, as well as be able to build and sustain strong university and public school relationships.
Minimum Qualifications: A Master's degree from an accredited institution in education or a related field is required. Experience in higher education desired; public school experience and current professional licensure preferred.
